The Chengyi Volunteer Team from the School of Business Administration (SBA) of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) responded positively to the national policy of advocating a good family style and a harmonious society, and went into the community of Beihuan Road in the afternoon of May 16th to carry out the activity and celebrated the International Day of Families with the community's elderly people together.
In order to ensure the smooth progress of the activity, the volunteers made thorough preparations in advance, carefully arranging weaving materials and teaching tools such as weaving cloth, scissors and glue, so as to facilitate the elderly's handmade production. At the same time, volunteer Cui Xinyue repeatedly practiced her PPT presentation to ensure that she could fluently convey the significance of the International Day of Families to the elderly and enhance their experience of the activity.
Firstly, the volunteers explained the well-prepared PPT and shared with the elderly in the community the origin and significance of the International Day of Families, as well as the news value and the spirit of the times carried by Jiefang Daily. With vivid pictures and concise language, they made the elderly feel the warmth and love of home and the important role of family in society.
The volunteers then switched roles, from purveyors of knowledge to instructors of handicrafts. They patiently taught the elderly how to use non-woven fabrics and guided them step by step to make exquisite flower baskets and bouquets by cutting, folding and pasting. In the process, the volunteers' hand-on teaching allowed the elderly to blossom with creativity and love at their fingertips. The elderly not only learned new skills, but also experienced the joy of creation and sense of accomplishment in hands-on production.
The activity came to a successful end, the volunteers and the elderly people took photos to memorize the warm time with photos. The volunteers said that they would continue to devote themselves to community service, transferring love and care with practical actions, so that every family could feel the warmth and care of the society. At the same time, they also called on more people to participate in volunteer activities, and jointly contribute their strength to building a harmonious society.
